Thats very odd. You might want to check and make sure your test isn't expired.

Thanks I will check that out on my lunch hour.

Once my tanks are cycled how often do you do the tests? Do you do them every day still? Once a week?

I test mine twice a week. I test the day of a water change and the day after just to make sure the water change did not disrupt the cycle. If I add anything or take away anything I test for a few days.

For example.. I'll be adding new plants to my tank when I get home.. It shouldn't disrupt the cycle but I'll be testing for 3 or 4 days just to be cautious.

Try testing tap water against your tank water.. they might still be good... the only way to know is if you test a different water source against your tank. Maybe a bottle of spring water?

I was just thinking you guys said there would be a spike in nitrites the nitrates would appear. Im wondering if I had my spike & the nitrites went back down? I will have to take a better look tonight. My nitrites were dark purple then I skipped the day & now its showing blue (none)
