How do you tell which is male or female.I have 33 babies 6 weeks old some are 2-3 times bigger than others. Is the bottom fin different? Some are starting to get colors in their fins. Can't get pics to upload [dialup]THANKS

What tail type are your babies? If they aren't PK or HMPK, you'll notice that the males start developing longer and longer fins as they get older. They'll also start to flare and go after their siblings, at which point you should separate them out of course.
If they are HMPK or PK....Not sure how to tell the difference I guess its just something you'd need experience to do, but I'd personally just go by aggression level.

My babies are just over 3 months old and I didn't notice the difference between genders until recently, but aggression started at about 8-9 weeks. So just watch them and separate out the aggressive ones ;)

i realized with mine, the males tail fin seems to come to a point in the back and then they just keep growing longer, and the girls, some, if you look closely you will see a little white dot, between the pectoral fins...eggs :D

well you can definitely tell because you could see very easily that the males are the very long finned and fluent tails. and the females dont really have much to display

I go by tail length and agression. I also look at the anal fin. Just look for a more pointed and longer on males. also I look for egg spots.
