My new set up. What you think?

This is my first aquarium, set up by me and my father just two hours ago. Was a funny experience trying to get the water up to my room instead of carrying endless buckets back and forth up the stairs my father tossed me the outside hose pipe up to my bedroom through the window. lol.

Anyway what you think?

Im not sure about the gravel I wanted black but they didnt have any so I settled for the silver. Im pretty gutted about it but it might look better when my betta is swimming happily and I have some plants =)

Im not sure. I was thinking some Java fern, maybe driftwood. Im actually trying to find a suitable priced bubble treasure chest and shipwreck which I think would look nice.

Any suggestions what accessories I could have?

I was looking at the DW yesterday but I couldnt find one I liked if thats even at all possible lol.

I am going for the live plants and would have got them yesterday but the woman at the shop said that I'd have to wait until the tank is cycled which I knew was false but "Shop assistants know best" so I cant really go back to the shop and get my plants because they would recognise me from yesterday lol and I'm not yet sure what plants I want. I want interesting looking ones and as its my first time easy ones that I wont end up killing lol

As for the rock work. I found an old ceramic pot in the garden, it was a rectangular one but I smashed it so I could have the corner but im not sure if I can put it in the tank, its got a bit of green algae and I have washed it under boiling water from the tap but im not sure.

LOL. I know how this goes. I stopped going to PetCo for similar reasons, and instead go to PetSmart now which I guess has turned out for the better because they have a greater selection and lower prices.

If you're having trouble with the algae, you can work on it with some vinegar. Might help get rid of it.

If the pot was never sealed, you might want to be careful about using anything other than hot water to clean it. You don't want any of the cleaner to get into any cracks or pores and end up in your tank water. If you do use something to clean it, I'd give it a good soak in clean water followed by some rinsing.
