One more thing... I bought the heater yesterday and Ive had it running since and the water feels kinda cold to touch... any suggestions? Is the water supposed to feel cold?
Do you have a thermometer in your tank? Touching your water to check the temperature isn't accurate because your own body temperature and blood flow to the submersed appendages will all effect how the water feels to the touch.
You can only rely on your touches after you're very experienced with comparing temperatures with water changes. For me, I only know what is 78 and what's not.
