Filter Question

I haven't nagged you all in a few days so I thought I'd drop by =)

I have an Aquael internal filter that came with my tank which came with an attachment to decrease waterflow or the sound of the flow or something I dont know, the attachment is fin shaped and has quite sharp pointy edges. I was wondering whether this is safe for my betta, he's bound to catch his fins on this when I get him right? Should I leave it on take it off?

I personally would leave it off. Either that or you could sand down the pointy edges, even then I still think it would be too rough for the little guy.

You can buy sponges that are specifically designed to go over the filter intake to greatly reduce the flow. Some filters can be manually buffered as well. However, I know nothing about internal filters and couldn't help you there.

I'm not a big fan of the internal filter, myself. But we each have our own preferences. Yes, the pointy edges are a good reason for concern. If you can leave it off without damaging the operation of the filter, good! If not, you'll need to do something to "betta-proof" it.
