Sorority need aeration?

I've got a sorority with 6 girls, 5 glowlight tetras and 3 oto cats. I had 6 tetras but one died after being really pale and holding his face at the surface for about a week. The others are all fine and active. They are half the size of the late one. But Istarted wondering if I should have a bubbler in there. It is a 14g cube with a filter and heater. The filter spout is above the surface. I got a little Top Fin bubbler today but it sounds like a nest of mad hornets. Question is, is it needed?

Nah, it's not needed, you have the filter will creates plenty aeration. Bubble stones and wands are mostly for looks, although goldfish tanks have the most use out of them that I know of, so you can keep if you want but it's not necessary. Especially with your Girls being surface breathers, the others will be fine with just the filter.
