Thanks for the compliments guys! I will pass them on to Niji ;)
His previous tank wasn't cycled at all, but I put in some of his structures that hopefully still had some BB on it from it, the substrate wasn't any good.
I'll check out the sponge filter thread and see if that might be more suitable, thanks Hallyx!
Day 2 and he seems pretty happy in his tank, being much more adventurous and swimming everywhere. Should be interesting to see how he goes with his water change tomorrow.
Day 7 and he's still going good. Trip to the pet shop today was good as I got to buy a heap of new accessories for the tank (air pump valve, thermometer, some blue gravel, prime, stresszyme and water test strips). Bought him a tank mate in the form of a yellow mystery snail too. He is only little but he seems to be fine with him at the moment :)
I have done the double cycle water change on day 3 and today. My gravel cleaner sucks the water out pretty fast so I'm going to have to go for the stir and dip method.
Now, I may have made a muck up here. I added some of the blue gravel to the tank today. I obviously rinsed it first but should I have let it sit in the old tank water for a day first? Hopefully I didn't need to :P
Awesome, I couldn't think as to why it might make a difference but was unsure. I was going to get the full blown master kit but I couldn't break for the price. I figure I will just err on the side of caution and use the double cycle anyway with the strips as just a check.
The stresszyme won't help the BB to grow quicker? Bugger :(
