Picking on one poor cory

So my 6 corys and my betta have been living happy for 4 months, BUT, "Swimmy" occasionally chased the smallest cory around the tank. Occasionally I would see Swimmy flare up and nip but never on a regular basis.

About a week ago I noticed the small cory was swimming funny. After closer examination I saw one of his pectoral fins was broken. I though it odd but thought maybe he did it when the corys do the day run arounds I see them do. So he has been doing a lot of hiding but today I saw him floating on his side on a plant....and his tail fins were nipped off. Poor little guy!

I will have to see if Swimmy starts on any of the other Corys, but they are all pretty good size.

Well I can't believe it but he killed that Cory. I don't know what his deal is but all of sudden he has become VERY aggressive towards the Corys. They all huddle together in a corner and they won't go out to even eat.

I'm really pissed at Swimmy for the change in attitude!

Don't be too mad at him. Hes only doing what comes natural to him. :)

Funny thing is he lived very well with them for a long time. Now it's like he has this mad streak in him!

Sometimes that happens with bettas. Thats why we don't recomend putting males with females except for breeding purposes only. They can appear fine for awhile, then BOOM! someone gets hurt or killed.

Well the way he is going all the Corys will be dead from starvation. He has them so freaked out they all huddle in a corner or under the rock structures. They don't come out to eat at all.

I think I am going to have to move the betta out of there.
