Post Betta Question

I went to Petsmart yesterday to try and get the female I saw before. She was gone but I was able to find one similar to her. So I brought her home and put her in my 1g for now, to make sure she's not sick or anything. The question I have is, how to tell a young male from a female. This is because she flared up at me in the 1g, and looked a lot like a boy with small fins. I have pictures, but of course none with her actually flaring. I know I'm probably being paranoid, I just don't want to accidentally put a boy in my sorority tank. Any helpful advice would be appreciated. :)

the "egg spot" can be deceiving, since I've seen males with a marking that looked like that, too. But I'd say that the pectoral fins look awfully feminine to me!

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was males, females, or both that had the white spots. I just got scared cause her pectoral fins looked a lot bigger when she flared up. Then again, I just noticed that Rei gets big when she flares, and I've had her for a few months now and she's definitly a girl. Thanks for the info Mister Sparkle. :)
