New tank problems

So I just got a new tank for my little guy. Before he was in a small tank with no filter or anything. He was happy but I thought it would be nice to upgrade the tank with a built in light and filter. He seems to be messed up by the filter. At first I thought it was swim bladder disease because he is swimming on his side or just lays on his side. I turn off the filter for him so he wouldn't be more stressed. He was fine yesterday morning, swimming fine and he looked happy. So I turned on the filter last night and then he was on his side again. Same thing happened today, so Iím wondering if it is something else. I'm really worried because he is usually really happy. We are going on day three and I havenít feed him because I thought it was swim bladder disease. Is my little guy going to be ok? Please help me :(

What size is the tank and do you have anything else in with him?

What kind of plants?
In a 1g tank I would remove the filter and not even use it if it is causing problems for the Betta, I would make twice weekly water changes 50% once a week and 100% once a week.
With a filter in a 1g tank IMO you still need to make twice weekly 50% water changes for quality water for best fish and fin health.
...as long as you are not over feeding and removing any uneaten food after feeding as well as the Betta being the only thing in the tank.
