Buying females?

I have a dream of a colorful female sorority, not for breeding but to have a tank full of color.
but I have noticed a big problem. All of my favorite aquarium stores do not carry females or if they do not often.
one I found that had a decent supply of females were only veil tails, and they looked lackluster.
Now if I don't want to spend a small fortune on Aqua bid what is the best way to find females?
(Note I live in Canada which poses a problem as there is only one aquabid transhipper on the other side of the country)

keep looking at petstores or family run petstores you will eventually find the one i found my first beauty at a petstore called petsupplies plus

I would say go back to the pet stores where you see heathy, pretty, colorful bettas and maybe if you ask they'll get some female sent in
