Daphnia as food?

Hi, my question is about daphnia. My betta currently has swim bladder problems and I heard daphnia could help him out. Is it okay to feed him the frozen variety, or is it better live? Also, are there any other things that could help, because I've fast him for two days already and he's still kind of floating on his side. I feed him three pellets per day, with one day of fasting per week. Should I pre soak the pellets? Advice welcome!
