Smile possible halfmoon double tail

is it possible you could have one. i was watching my betta today and then i saw what looked like the separation of the tail. i must ave made a face and it scared him so i ran over to the computer to check with yo guys.

Maybe he got it caught on something. Wouldn't the very definition of a halfmoon keep it from being a doubletail?

Could you take a picture of him? Was his tail always split or did it just happen? He could've gotten it caught on something.

i agree this could possibly it no reason it should have two tails

It is possible to have a halfmoon that is a double tail, but you will be able to tell if it's a double tail. It's very obvious. It sounds like your guy split his tail, it should heal soon if this is the case.

Agreed a doubletail can be a halfmoon if it has a 180degree spread! But you would notice very easily. Do you have any pictures?

I agree with Z. Its easy to tell if your guy is a DT. The best way to tell is to look at his dorsal fin. DT have elongated dorsals that run almost the entire length of their body.

Here is my halfmoon DBT, Eros.. as you can see his fins are so full you can't see the divide.. even when he flares. I can tell he is a dbt from his dorsal and his somewhat shortened body.
