I use Aqueon Betta Food, I didn't see the gold one at the time, though that's what I fed my last betta and he never had any issues with it. :-/ What is daphnie anyway? A bug? :-s

I alternate feeding frozen bloodworms and pellets to my bettas. I stay away from freeze-dried bloodworms (even pre-soaked) since they tend to bloat my bettas.

Mine love the freeze dried blood worms, and I have yet to have any bloating problems with them... *knocks on wood*... I don't give them to them all that often but when I do, they're almost like puppies getting treats lol

Just to clarify.. frozen bloodworms are completely ok to feed as a staple. Really any frozen or live food can be fed as a primary.. just like a pellet. I know many breeders who feed ONLY live and/or frozen foods.

The problem is with freeze dried bloodworms (or any freeze dried foods). The freeze drying process takes a lot of the nutrients out of the food making it essentially "fish candy".

I currently feed my guys Top Fin betta bites (non color enhancing) since they're a little bit smaller than the other types I've found. The Hikari is way too expensive for me. I never have issues with constipation feeding these pellets even though I rarely do fast days.
