I'm working on setting up my little buddy with a bigger bowl. His bowl now is about a gallon, but he's gotten huge, and I wanted to give him a little more room. Anywho, I'm going to get a second betta, and I wondered if it's safe to put him in Gareth's old bowl. I wouldn't normally worry, but Gareth had a mystery disease about a month ago. He recovered and has been in the same bowl since then, but I don't want to expose a new fish to anything he may have had. Opinions?
I wouldn't get another fish. A one gallon really isn't an appropriate sized permanent tank for a betta. I would wait until you could get a 2+ gallon tank.
Just clean it really good. Maybe even soak it in bleach for a couple hours. I see no problem with a one gallon. Maybe get a female though, as they are usually much smaller.
