My sound was on and I heard your scream. I don't even know where to start on this info sheet. Just awful. Sad...very sad.

I'm considering replying to that PR person and asking why they'd be spreading such erroneous information. At the very least, I'd like to write a note about why they're wrong. Would anyone like to chime in with anything that I should include? I recently did a post on my blog about bettas, and that's what that notice found it's way to me. I may post another article about bettas to see if I can contradict some of this nonsense.

Fish need a lot of room is a myth? What are they trying to teach kids. Goldfish are actually better than bettas because bettas need a lot of care.

I disagree. I do think bettas are better as a first fish than goldfish. Goldfish require tanks larger than most people have the room, financials or experience for. However, whether goldfish or betta, more people would have success in this hobby if they did some research first and didn't just listen to the employees at stores.

Lani, you'll notice the foundation of most of the misinformation is the "Betta live in small puddles" meme. Crack that and the rest falls with it,

(Love your new avatar, CJ.)

I'd say as a starter for kids just some Guppies. I always found them the easiest to care for.

Okay, first, I read that again to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. And second, I punched the keyboard. Holy cow, that is just plain WRONG. That's why I would rather work at PetSmart.

As some of you know, I do work for the company. Every time a customer is buying a betta, I make sure to go over some of the basics. I haven't worked there long but I do know what i'm talking about and I will voice my knowledge.
This information is ridiculous

It just makes me upset when customers come to the checkout and mention that the guy in the fish department told them the 29 gallon tank they're buying will be fully cycled in a day
