RIP Gracie

My fish died today...
She was fine when I woke up in the morning, but when I came home today, she was gone. I even just bought her knew medication, and I didn't know she had passed away until I started to put the medication in her tank, which was done as soon as I got home.
As I was putting the medication in I was looking around for her and could not find her. Then I noticed her behind her decoration, and that is when I saw she was not moving. I poked her a bit with the net, and still no movement. She has been lying on the bottom, no movement for the last hour and turning white as a ghost. If she doesn't come up for air and shows no sign of movement, I guess that means she is gone and has passed away. I really tried to save her, but I was not sure what was wrong with her and bought her the wrong medication. if I bought her the right stuff right away, she would probably be still alive. But it wasn't like I didn't try at all. I really wanted to save her. :(

I think she died from Columnaris. Someone on the forum who saw a picture of her that I posted said it looked like columnaris or a fungus problem.

But I just wanted to mention that she has passed away. At least now I am aware of this COlumnaris disease, and other Betta diseases. I have this medication in my room now, so if one of my other fish get sick, I know what to look for. I have 17 Betta fish and she was the first of my firs to get sick and die. My very first fish is still with me. He is very healthy and had him for over three months now. I just feel bad that I lost her. She was a very cute purplish/black fish. My little Gracie :(
Wish I could show you a picture of her, but I don't have any good ones of her.

But yeah, this is the first time I ever experienced a loss in a fish. I am new to fish keeping, and only started caring for Bettas recently. All my other fish are doing okay, but now I am going to be even more watchful then ever before with my other ones.

PS I plan to get rid of all her decorations, silk plants, heater, and gravel. The only thing I hope I can save is the tank. It's a 5.5 gallon tank. Would it be okay to just disinfect the tank? Is it savable? I don't want to risk any of my other fish catching what she had.
I am also not going to flush her down the toilet, I read that it's better to either bury her (Which I can't do since it's winter here) or put her in the garbage. Which I think I will do.

Anyways, that's it for now I guess.
RIP Gracie

Sorry you lost your Gracie! :(

Yes, save the tank. Clean it out well.

I'm sorry for your loss.

You can bleach everything, the plants, heater, decorations and tank. Just dump the gravel. You can put the tank right in your tub and fill it up with a little bleach, water, the silk plants, decorations and heater in the tank and let it soak for a few minutes. wipe everything down really good and rinse a few times with water. Let everything dry and you should be good to go.
