Well I bumped my sorority up to 7 bettas. After the 4 girls I got from my lfs, I got a girl from petsmart. Most she had wrong was some fin rot. They were all fine together. Then I added 2 more from petsmart (buck fifty!!). Went downhill from there. The 5th girl got beat up very badly by the new girls. After a very long day yesterday,I finally got home about midnight to find her just sitting on the bottom looking pathetic. All her fins are torn,no tail fin or bottom fin highly stressed obviously.
I could not leave her in there like that, they would most likely kill her off next. All I had on hand (I pitched my other small tanks, after losing all my other bettas) was a 1/2 gallon tank. Luckily the heater fit in there,I monitored it for several hours make sure it did not get too warm. It was all good and holding steady. She is actually looking better (well aside from the torn fins)....she ate a lil bit for me and is swimming around. I feel bad for having her in a teeny tiny tank after being in a huge one,but did not want to chance the others killing her.
I am heading out shortly to get her a bigger tank, see what I can find. I am limited on space,so it will not be anything huge. If she heals up good I may try her in my Panda/Pygmy cory tank. Thats the only one without other dither type fish.
Well wish her luck in recovery. I am gonna get her a new plant or two and cave of some sort. I feel so bad for her.
