Are these bloodworms?

Well, outside, my family has a small koi pond, with a small stream/plant growing place. A while ago, I was shifting rocks around, looking for pretty ones to put in my tank, and I saw this pinkish red worm about an inch long(not an earth worm), and it was really gross looking (but then again I hate bugs and worms and spiders with a fiery passion), and I watched in horrified fascination as it sorta swam out of sight and into the rocks. Do you think it was a bloodworm? Is it safe to give to my betta? My pond never has anything added to it, so I know it hasn't come into contact with pesticides, or fertilizers, etc.

Blood worms are usually found attached to wood in ponds and streams. I'm not sure if what you saw was a bloodworm or not but I would make sure that I knew what it was before feeding it to the fish.

Right... I'm not going to risk it, becuase apparently there's a large possiblity of live bloodworms having parasites. :) thanks for replying
