changing the gravel

How often should I change it or do I need to change it at all?

That's what I figured...but I know some people might be germ freaks and have the money to buy new gravel every single time. lol

I'm not that way, I can just wash it out and put it back in...

Change it when it gets to a point you are fed up with it or it's just too dirty to clean.

I get "shiny" gravel now as the dirt wipes off; my older gravel that I've had years had loads of spaces in it so it got really dirty; cleaning will only clean so much and I don't plan on scrubbing every big of gravel clean.

Otherwise no need to change it :)
