I agree with onefish. Carrying the tanks is a bad idea. It's bad for the tanks and your back over time. They are heavier than they look, even with less water in them. If you get a 5 gallon tank, you can just cycle it and use a gravel siphon (which literally aren't expensive).

I think I am going to try cycling. And I think I've decided on a 5 gallon and divide it... Now I'm have trouble finding a 5 gallon kit with a kit (hood, light, filter, etc). The only one I could find is the Tetra Aquarium starter kit... which is criticized to have a filter that is too strong to keep bettas in. Suggestions? There seems to be more kits out there for 10 gallon tanks. Should I just buy all the tank things separately for a 5 gal?

Ooh, I think I might've found the perfect tank! A 6.6 gal tank from Petco... it looks awesome and just the right size I'm looking for... Problem is that it's acrylic... I've heard so many bad things about acrylic. Advice?


EDIT: Oh, apparently this tank was discontinued from Petco. Dang.
