Typical behavior?

I moved John into his completely new 1.5 gallon tank. There is epsom salt in the water because he has pop eye.
1- Is it normal for a betta to freak out a little bit?
2- Is he freaking out because of the new tank or the epsom salt iin his water?

He was swimming around pretty fast. Backed up away from the walls.
The water is at 75 degrees Farenheit.

Was the water he was in before being put in the 1.5g 75F?
When I see erratic behavior after being placed in a new tank or a water change, I start making water changes just to rule out water issues.
If this is a brand new tank, did you clean is really good before you used it?
Has he calmed down any

He has calmed down. I rinsed everything out completely with hot water. The water in his old tank was 75 yes. I think it might be the size and that the epsom salt is in the water now.

The Epsom salt usually will not cause any behavior changes.
Good that he calmed down, it may have been the new tank and more space that he needed to adjust to and since he has popeye is vision may not be so great and that feeling of security in the smaller container changed suddenly.
