In your case I'd worry more about the ghost shrimp attacking the cherries, than the betta. Ghost shrimp can get really aggressive... and large (well, by comparison to cherries, at least). Cherries are small, docile... and tasty. They're also brightly colored so a betta that ignores the ghosts will sometimes be more interested in the cherries.

yea, they are active, but i never seen anyone attack anyone... I'll definately concider changing the cherries from tank though when I can

not...with my new Betta however... he just got here and already hes flaring at me and everything going close to the tank lol
