My betta has a pale orange body and you can see his veins, so definately don't worry about it.

Maybe he's a bit more sensitive or just younger; I'd keep an eye on him. But if he is eating then he should be ok :)

He is beautiful, I have a female that is near identical to him that I am spawning this week.
Aquarium salt 1tsp/gal along with his 100% daily to every-other day water changes over the next 10 days won't hurt and could even help, so I would give it a try.
He is just a shy guy and being so much smaller he could have been one that stayed hid all the time during grow-out with little human contact and now he is forced to- in a way- into human contact and it may take him awhile to adjust, if he does at all....but he sure is a pretty man.....

That makes sense, fish psychology. I'll do the aq salt & thank you both for the reassurance!

I just did his water change and there was a strong chemical odor coming from the tank-it is the plastic cave plant thing I bought yesterday-in the aquarium section of my fish store all it says on it is 2002 BRPF. Uck! Fish seems unaffected but I am taking the cave out, maybe soak it for a few days and see if it stops smelling :(
I googled it, apparently plastic decor has this issue sometimes?
