I only really dip mine if I'm really suspicious of it. I used diluted potassium permanganate rather than bleach. As long as you rinse very thoroughly it should be fine.

I added it to a bucket of water with de-chlorinator and fertiliser and rinsed it for a while before using it, my shrimp don't seem to be bothering with it though lol
