10 gallon tank cleaning advice

Hey guys. I have a 10 gallon tank. It is divided with a betta and 4 catfish on one side and a king betta on the other. Each side has a amazon sword plant and a root tab. It is filtered and heated. I am thinking of doing one full clean since the layers of the gravel have food bits in them and my vac is terrible. After this cleaning I want to lessen the amount of cleaning as much as I can. I have heard adding more live plants in can help with this. I have enclosed pictures of my tank below. How many more plants should I add to lessen cleanings?
