She needed to be in QT treatment with the Epsom salt 1tsp/gal for 10 days, you also need to make daily 100% water changes. This is why I like to pre-mix my Epsom salt in a clean 1g jug to make it easier for dosage and water changes.

Unhappy

I found her resting in some java fern floating at the top of the tank today, presumably so she has easier access to air. I don't want to jump the gun but when I look at her I really feel like it may be time for me to put her out of her misery. Apart from being bloated and her scales sticking out she looks healthy (fins not clamped, still looks at me when I walk by the tank.) What should I do?

If she is eating and otherwise acting okay I would give her more time, but if she seems to be suffering...you have to do the right thing by her......only you can make that decision......

So I should stop the fasting? Any foods I could feed to help her? Should I feed really high protein foods now?

Are you treating her in QT with the Epsom salt? if so, I would wait to feed until at least day 3 of treatment and then feed half of normal feeding, when you have a fish that bloats from food, sometimes it is better to feed 4-5 times a day in very, very small amounts or live food that will pass faster.
