Petco

My petco is really good with their animals and bettas! Does anyone else know of a really good petco? They have plakats, halfmoons, super deltas, everything!

My petsmart is atually much better than my Petco where I live....Petco's where I am only have Halfmoons..Veiltails...and crowntails. My petsmart also takes better care of them so I guess it really depends on where you are lol!

I work at Petco as a summer job, and the only reason I applied there was because of the care of their animals. They take exceptional care of the animals compared to all other pet stores I have been to in my state. The animal care manager used to breed and raise her own animals and ran her own pet stoe 10 years ago. She is a slave driver (in a good way) when it comes to taking care of the animals. The other petcos in my state are bad to neglectful. It really comes down to the animal manager, and the store manager and how they respond to problems, keep on top of the employees, and respond to customer concerns.

My Petsmart is usually pretty good about taking care of their fish but once in awhile I see dead bettas.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that one of the Petco's near my house (the Petco in South Pasadena) keeps their bettas in the bigger, wider "cups" (almost like small bowls). The fish actually have room to move around a little, and while some of the cups have some waste on the bottom, the other half were pretty decent. They also have halfmoons for $15!! I didn't buy one though because I don't want to purchase another heater.

The other Petco (Glendale) that's close to where I live still has them in the tiny cups so I don't shop there, even though it's 5 miles closer to me than the other one.

I love my petco! They have everything from halfmoons to crowntails! That's where I got my beautiful cambodian Benji (who passed away...:() and my newest betta Neptune Poseidon.
On the other hand, I've had bad experiences with my local petsmat- they wanted a dead fish as proof for your 2 week replacement policy!

My petco and walmart both do very good jobs on taking care of the fish. Although my petco is lazy with the saltwater tanks.
