Live plant question :)

Hey everyone!

Well my question is are betta fish capiable with yellow ribbon plants and mondo grass? Because thats what I got today at the pet store. And everyone celebrate because I got my water tested and the only thing that was bad is that the PH was high :D

It's more of a question of, "Are these plants compatible with my Betta?"

As long as the plants require the same water conditions as Betta (light, temperature etc.) you should be fine.

I think that all fish enjoy live plants. Just make sure they arent spikey or sharp and you should be all good.
Just make sure you are buying true aquatic plants.

I hate to tell you this...but neither of those plants are aquatic and will rot and die, I would remove them before they start to foul the water.
It is sad that pet shops sell these type of plants for use in aquariums.......

Also, don't try and change the pH with any chemicals, most fish are just fine with your source water pH...but those sudden pH swings can be deadly.....

Thank you :) i took them out and now on my way to return them and get some java fern :) and while I'm there i'm gonna find that aquatic plant book to make sure what plants can work. Thanks again

Now what about Dwarf Anubias? Are they semergable? lol is there a list soem where that says what plants are sumergable and what aren't?

Anubias is a great low light plant, also, naja grass, crypts, java moss, java ferns are good low light plants.

Thank you again :). I didn't buy it in fear that it wouldn't be submerable. I'll get it tomarrow sometime :)
