I don't see what is so amazing about that fish either. Looks like something at my local petco. LOL Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful fish, but I'm not too fond of his fin shape and body shape. Just a little off.

The most I've paid is 15. And that was on my birthday. A little present to myself.

He is nice, but I can imagine him at my local petstore too, doggyhog.
Maybe he is from a long line of perfect bettas or something. I like the three blue areas on the fins! The starting price was $22. Someone must really want him.

I wouldn't pay more than $15 either.

Value is what we give it. The fish was originally listed for $22 (decent price for that fish, maybe a little too much) and he was bid up drastically between two bidders. I don't know why anyone would pay that much for a fish but he must have had a reason.

Maybe there was someone who just thought it would be perfect for breeding or something.

Sometimes breeders way overprice a certain fish in order to "show off" to other breeders. Obviously no one will buy the fish--and they don't want to sell it. But that is the person's way of saying "This is what I'm working on, this is what I've got so far--if you like it, you should totally get in touch with me."

Its possible that the fish was bid up as a ploy from the breeder to say look "how much people want to pay for my fish" the fish started at $22 so it's not like its asking price was ridiculous (Unlike the $50 fish Bettysplendens sold a week or two ago.. that was ridiculous).

You could check the aquabid forums to see if they mention anything about it.
