Quick question need answering .

Ok i have had my betta for 1 year and not once has he made a bubble nest nor puff out in defense i tried putting a mirror in front of him all he did was swim in circles but i immediately took it away didn't want to stress him .

But why hasn't he made a bubble nest ?

Some bettas just don't feel the need to flare or make a bubble nest. I have one guy who NEVER flares, though he is in a tank with another male (they can see each other through the divider). And I have one or two others who don't make bubble nests. Just their personalities, I guess. Just be happy you don't have to breed him!! hehe

Ah, ok. Have you researched breeding a lot? And I mean, a lot?? There are so many variables to it. And pet store bettas shouldn't be bred because they usually have unknown genetic histories that could cause huge problems in spawns.

A betta will most likely build a bubble nest once he is conditioned properly. Do a search of our breeding section for conditioning to understand the process better.
