Melafix

I often recommend people not to use this but I'm desperate, I checked on my male and noticed his fins are far worse than they were yesterday, apparently Clark Gable has been biting his fins I love my little rosetail and really want to encourage his fins to grow back quickly so I was wondering for short term use will melafix damage my betta's labyrinth?

If you use it, remove the tank cover, lower the water level and maybe even add an airstone on low setting.
The fumes above the water from the medication is what can cause the problems from my understanding.

I was hoping you would answer this question :) Could I just use a filter instead of an airstone?

Since I have only used that product one time many years ago and the fish (not a betta) died and I couldn't stand the smell of it either, I can't say how to use it....I would follow the labeled directions....sorry.......

Maybe try using a half dose so it won't be so strong.

I've used Melafix on my betta. I used it at about 1/4 strength actually, and he had no problem with it. With a betta, less is always safer, IMO.

I think I am going to give it a go, his tail is really depressing me and today I've noticed his anal fin is looking pretty rough too these fish are far from easy to look after lol
