Wondering how big of heater i am needing. What is the watt/gallon ratio, lol.

I may be buying a large aquarium, 65 gallon and wondering how to heat it. Also, I have numerous small tanks and wonder what would be more efficient for heating as well.

The usual recommendation is 3 - 5 watts per gal. In a tank that size, I would get two and put one on each end. That way one heater doesn't have to work so hard & if one malfunctions, there is still heat. At least that is how I do it in my 50 gal. & my 75 gal.!!! :)

I'd say 6 watts per gallon.
