Exclamation Velvet or am I Just a Paranoid Mom???

I didn't post a pic of this poor guy in my other thread, because I didn't want to embarrass him. He is still recovering from me going on vacation and a plant rotting in his bowl (person I left in charge didn't think to change the water >_<)

He's come a long way with some AQ salt and daily water changes, but when I was snapping pics tonight I notice a whole lot of brown. Do I need to worry?

I can't tell by that picture, but if your worrying a lot then get a real bright flash light turn all the lights out, then shine the flash light on his body and if you see like a gold dust or rust looking color then he has it.
I like to use my 2.5 gallon hospital tank & my 1 gallon tanks. I am always ageing water so I will take and use the aged water.
Then I use a little "quick cure" in 3 days to a week and there good to go......

I dunno. I don't think it's Velvet (I did some more research.)

The area I'm worried about is under his gills. It looks way brown and swollen. I'm not sure if the discoloration is still just something from the rotting plant or just his natural coloring has changed. He had been very, very blue but had lost most of his color. He also seems to do a lot of darting. But then, he could just be neurotic. o_O I've never had a "sick" Betta. Think I'm just freaking myself out.

He looks a little bloated, to me... might want to fast him a day or two and see if it goes away?

Good luck with your fishy. :c

He's fine now. Think that the stress of his "incident" just led to some vast color changes. He's fin. Eating and swimming and he has FINALLY quit hiding from me when I walk in the room. The boating is gone as well.
