Talking Undergravel Filter Sytem

I am buying a large 70n gallon tank and wondering what a undergravel filter is? Is this all you need for a filter, or will i need another filter?

Thanks,

BETTA BOY

Talking Bigger Tank Help

I am upgrading from a 10 gallon to a 70 gallon.

Wondering if my traditional ways can be kept the same. Aquarium salt, I know I will need not 1 spoonful but 14. Is this still ok to use?

Also filter, i know wont be able to add my carbon ot the filter and its an UNDER GRAVEL filter. Not sure what that means.

Any other help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

UGF are good unless you want to do live plants
I would not use aquarium salt long term, not needed with most species of fish and not good for most live plants, what kind of fish did you plan to keep
You don't need carbon IMO...its more of a personal choice

Talking

Well, I am going to put my 8 female Betta in the tank, I was hoping to put live plants in too. In the future I may go saltwater...

Originally I wanted to use my natural black sand in the tank with live plants and Bettas, until i realized you cant use sand with a UGF (do you agree IYO).

So now I'm back to gravel with possibly no plants, and wanting to keep my ammonia down?

Unfortunately this tank i am buying has an UGF.

Thanks,

BETTA BOY

True, sand doesn't work well with UGF, forgot about your black sand.....you don't have to use the UGF, get a hang on the back type or canister type, you will want that for saltwater anyway

You can always do the UGF and floating plants.....
