New boy

For some reason, I decided today was the day. I went to the local pet store to see what they had, and saw one fish floating on his side at the top of the water. I thought he was dead, so I picked up the cup to show the store owner. He moved! I kept an eye on him while I checked out the other fish, and he kept an eye on me. He was visibly bloated and would start turning sideways now and then. I decided that if he was already that overfed, he probably wasn't going to survive there, so I brought him home. :) He's doing much better already with some epsom salts.

Without further ado, here is my new, as yet unnamed, fish friend.

He's kinda purply-blue in real life.

He's doing much better even just in the two days since I got him. No more sideways floating, he can swim down to the bottom of the tank and hang out there if he wants (he'd float back up before), and he always wants to know what I'm doing and if I'm going to feed him when I peek in on him. I even stopped fasting him this morning and there's been no return of the swim bladder disorder. :) He'll be in one of the bigger tanks in the next couple days, so there will be more pictures soon.

Ok, one week later: *drum roll*

Not the best focus or lighting, but he's a fast little dude. I didn't want to stress him out, too much.
