Live Plant Water Changes?

I just recently got a few live plant bulbs to put in my male betta's 5 gallon. He recently came down with ich, so I need to do a full water change. How should I approach cleaning the plants, which have just begun to sprout and the gravel they live in? Can I take them out? And could they have infected my betta with ich? (I've had him for 3 months, and he's never shown any signs of ich until now.)

You don't need to clean the plants :/

as for the ich, those bulbs sometimes get moldy so it's better to grow them out of the tank and then plant them in the tank once they sprout.

I would QT the betta to treat for ich, the parasites should die in the 5g without a host while treating the Betta in QT-however, I would still do some deep substrate vacuuming, what kind of filter are you using?

Sometimes Ich can show up when the fish becomes stressed for some reason-sudden temp changes can often be the cause of the stress, poor water quality, lights on too long, too much external stimulation, too strong of a water current...etc......

He doesn't have a filter. He used to have one, but he hated the current, even on the lowest setting. I just do biweekly water changes. He might have been stressed by the lights I have been leaving on longer recently for the live plants.

How much water are you changing on the twice weekly water changes and how much longer are you leaving the lights on as compared to before plants?

Usually around 30%, sometimes less. Before I was leaving the lights on around 3 hours, now more than 8.
