I got it bad for Bettas...

So, if you are reading this, you probably know the story of my platnum bettas from Thailand (they arrived DOA). Feeling miserable, I went to the Petco in Denhim Springs (IMO, best bettas around) to see what they had. They had some very nice looking "King" Bettas...much nicer then any I had seen at the other stores. So I picked one out and went to the register...it was a whooping $30 . Needless to say, I put it back. I went to another petco in New Orleans and picked up a nice pair of crowntails that I will breed (technically, my dad picked them up and gave them to me). So as a fish junkie, those king bettas were still in my head for a week...and you knew it was going to happen...I went back and got one. He is about 3 inches long, has a plakat halfmoon tail, and is literally about 3x the size of a normal betta. In the pictures below, you can see both it and the crowntail. And yes, I plan to breed it, but the problem is, my only source for females is Thailand . As usual, my pictures do not give my fish justice.

My King betta never was able to breed. He was to big and too rough on the female every single time. I sure do miss that fish...maybe in the future.

For me its about fun, but I also would supply some of the local LFS with some good looking giants at a better price then what they go for at petco. As far as I know, I was the only person (fool, maybe) willing to pay the $30 price that Petco asks in the 3 weeks that they have had the fish.

i know that the petsmart in slidell has female bettas. it might be a bit of a drive though for you though, but its easier and cheaper then shipping them from thailand.
