I have personally never used them, but have heard from others that have tried them that they make a real mess of the tank and water quality - so I would actually rather the betta go without food or have someone come in to feed (depending how long I was going to be gone for) than use those.

They tend to make a mess of your tank.

I don't think bettas really eat them anyway, and they really make your tank messy. Not a good idea if you're not there to clean it up.

It's better to fast them. If you don't feed them, they won't produce much waste!

Here's a LFS story for ya...the lady that runs the "fish" dept. told me the other day that she doesn't feed the bettas in the store AT ALL! They make too much waste...which means her water changes (in the 4 oz. cups) would be more often...so her costs would rise. How's that grab ya? Pretty sad. Too lazy or cheap to change the water in a cup? Disgusting.

I think you're ok for the 24 hours. LOL.

Most people and breeders only feed 3 or 4 time's a week... The other thing is, there's artical's on the net of people letting bettas go week's without feeding.. And like other people said it is good to fast the fish for a 24 hour period...
You will be fine...

I don't feed twice a day at all. Sometimes I randomly skip a day.

I have left mine for 5 days no problem. Over 5 days I'd probably get someone to drop a few pellets in for them. (Even though I don't really like to feed pellets, it's better then nothing)

I've read that you can let them go for up to two weeks but prior to leaving feed them an extra pellet more than you usually feed them.
