sad and strange

I was at walmart today and went to go do my usual unstacking of the bettas. First off, I saw 2 betta males had been put in one cup and one's fins were pretty torn up. I think I got there in time and separated them. I did not see any blood, just torn up fins. But there was something else I saw which was disturbing as well as confusing. There was a dead one in a cup but the water was not that yellow color it turns when a dead betta is left there on the shelf. It looked like the water was soapy? It was clear and the betta was um...disintegrated. Does this happen over time or is it possible some sick person poured a chemical in the cup? I have never seen or heard of anything like this before.

I think it was some sick asinine sadist having fun making fish suffer. Can you do a favor, sorry to get off topic, but your text is really small and hard to see/read, can you change it to a larger size? Sorry.

Did you separate the 2 males that were together?
I remember at walmart one day all the fish, bettas and guppies and gold fish and tetras all looked SO hungry, so i took a bottle of betta pellets off the shelf and fed every single betta and poured the rest into all the other tanks. those poor fish were SO hungry!

yes I separated them. I wish walmart would stop selling fish. The other fish tanks seem like they are cleaner and have improved, the betta's water was cleaner than normal but what I saw was so disturbing.
