It's not, only 3 gallons. I think the 5 gallons is a different brand, but this one is the large which holds 3 gallons.

Walmart and online stores have bare 10 gallon tanks for 10 dollars, I think that is the best deal If you go that route. If not for 19.00 more dollars you can get the 10 gallon kit with filter and all.
But I am sure he is happy to be in something bigger and you got it set up pretty good. Cool...

They don't need 10 gallon's but it is nice to have to watch him strech and swim all the way to the other side of the tank and work them ray's. Plus this is just me but if your only going to have one or two bettas it is nice to have them in a 5 gallon or 10 gallon kit, and this is just me but I like to have aquatic life for every part of the tank, like in the wild. I like to have some bottom feeder's some scavanger's some algae cleaner's and then my betta so it make's a real nice look, low maintenance and simulates the real life having aquatic life for every part of the tank, And then your beautiful betta come's swimming by.
Now if people have 3 or 4 or more bettas I dont expect them to go buy a 5 or 10 gal for each one know way..
