Does anyone know the regulations of bringing a betta from the US to Canada?

So I've been thinking of maybe getting a double tail or halfmoon or something other than a VT or CT, BUT here in Canada we seem to have a big fat shortage My work only carries VT and CTs, so I was thinking of hopping across the border and checking out a Petco. I've never been, and I figure it would be a cool day trip to check it out. Now if I were to fall in love with a betta down there, could I be stopped coming home at the border for having him? Would I have to pay duties or could he be confiscated?

I will definitely call them before I go down, but I just wanted to get some assurance here or any experiences.

I'm not sure. I would think he would have to be inspected by the Canadian equivalent to the fish and wildlife services but I dunno.
