So I just got my male crowntail betta Euphie (Euphrates) a week ago. I've had fish before, just not bettas. I've heard some people say that you can put a mirror by a betta's tank and have them flare at their reflection. So a few days ago tried this, but whenever Euphie say his relection he'd bolt to the other side of his tank. I was worried about stressing him out so I took the mirror away. Today I tried the mirror again, but he showed the same behavior of seeming to be scared, so I left the mirror there, thinking maybe he'd get used to it, but he didnt seem to get any less scared. I don't know if it's because he's in a new home, or what, but I thought it was weird since he sometimes flares at things like decorations, and he flared at a new plant I put by his tank. Is it just because he's not settled in to his home yet? Or is he just a timid betta?
