I wouldnt recomend dividing it 5 ways. I mean yea it would have 2 gallons per fish and that is like the minimum for them but the dimensions fo each section wouldnt be so good. The secyions would only be about 4 inches across. not too comfortable for the fish to turn around and move in and it would be hard to put any plants and decor in it.

i would only divide it into 3, when mine was in 4 it still looked super cramped. you could ask for a 20 long and divide it 5 ways. your fish would be way happier

A 20 long divided 5 ways would be much better. They would more comfortable with 6 inches across the front and then they would each have 4 gallons each.

I wouldnt divide the tank into more than 3. Personally I would only do 2 but i suppose 3 will still be alright.

Whatever you choose make sure its STURDY. A 20 gal when filled will weigh about 200 lbs. a 20 gal tank is 30x12x12 in size.
