I was weak... meet Irys!

The non-planted tank I'm going to let fully cycle before I introduce a fishy, but the planted tank is doing well and I decided that I really didn't want to wait. Lame excuse, but oh welllll...

I'd been stalking out a couple boys at my local Petco. I was sure that I'd go for either the mustard gas boy or the purple-copper plakat, but every time I went in, this boy sat right on top of them and flared his little heart out at me. He ended up coming home.

I think he might be a copper? In the cup, he looked rosy-coppery-brown and he still does in some lights, but he also glows pale teal and pink depending on which way he turns. It's really gorgeous! He's definitely a fish who looks a million times more amazing in person.

"My snail! Don't touch."

"Hmm... but is the snail delicious?"

"I am copper! I hate that teal guy so much."

"My fins are the most luxurious."

He is gorgeous! Looks like he's made of iridescent plastic (a complement)

I agree, that's very much what he looks like! When he's on the side of the tank and I get really close, his fins glow so beautifully that he doesn't look real. o__o

In person, I can see perfectly where each scale sits and he has that darker area without the defined scales on his head. Is this indicative of a dragon scale betta?

He's gorgeous. If he is a dragon scale he definitely is a pretty one. I'm in love with dragon scales. My little tiny Delta Tail is a dragon. I'd have caved too for that guy.

I believe he's copper (like my boy Kanoa) :) He's gorgeous! Coppers reflect and show so many colors. Congrats on him!

Is this the tank with the fabric background? Can you post a pick of how the whole of it turned out? :D
