betta stuck to inflow valve

so my betta will be looking at the inflow valve, and go right next to it, and get sucked into it. it will sit there, try to get away, rest, try again, etc. eventually it gets out. but it will not learn its lesson, and stop. it will keep on happening... might he find this fun or massaging? i turned the flow to low, as to before where it was high, and i'm just wondering if i should just put it back up to high since this keeps on happening. i'm just afraid one time he'll get stuck, and won't be able to go up for oxygen. would you recommend a sponge or something along the valve? here are some pictures of him ...and when he gets stuck :p

thanks!

Betta fish are not intelligent so to speak and will not always "learn their lesson".

I would keep it on low and recommend a filter sponge wrapped around it asap. One of these times he might get stuck to it and tear/damage his fins and/or die.

I say get a sponge. When my girl Babylon got caught in the filter she got so torn up she died. A male probably won't be as damaged but still, get a sponge or something to block that from happening.

I don't know what it is with getting yourself stuck to the intake. ALL of my fish did it except for Kilo so I imagine it has something to do with their long fins. Maybe it feels good. I have that Fluval edge pre-filter sponge on all of them now and they don't do it anymore. *shrug* Petsmart has them sometimes.
