Post Bubble Nest

Good evening to all of you; especially from Oviedo, FL (suburb of Orlando) and to all of Central Florida too. Will I disturb my male betta fish if I clean his bubble nest if it gets too large?

I have an aunt that lives off of E Colonial and relatives in Oviedo. :) If you break down your betta's bubble nest, he'll just rebuild it. No harm done, it keeps them busy. :)

i got a question regarding the nest...the bubble nest isnt really the problem. my problem is all the ick that sits on top of the water when he makes the nest...i have a low flow filter and it dont get rid of it..i have to take the fish net and like skim it off the top. what is that stuff and how can i keep it from happening?

I have the same question. I don't even know what that film is on the water surface! I'm always skimming the top...

It's dissolved organics & isn't any danger to the fish. You can increase the water movement it you like to break it up & you won't see it so much although it never truly goes away.

You can scoop it out with a net or you can lay a piece of paper towel on top of the water to soak it up & throw the paper towel away.
