Are you sure they don't have teeth? I can usually hear them chowing down on their food which led me to believe that they do, but hey I could be wrong lol

Bettas are very intelligent and trainable, although it is disadvantaged in the area of trainability compared to other fish because constantly giving a betta food rewards in order to train them is problematic, since a betta will quickly become bloated. Goldfish and large cichlids like oscars are more trainable because they can take more consecutive food rewards without feeling the consequences, so the behavior is more easily ingrained in these fish. I have seen plenty of bettas swim through hoops, and other simple tricks.

My girl who bits hurts, my male bit me once but I was tesing him with food so it was my own fault.

My goldfish have bitten me too; they dont hurt but it's more the shock of it which sends my hand out of the tank instantly. They can't wait 2 minutes for food, no..."bite the hand that feeds you" why don't you! lol.
