Before I bought Longjohn, I prepared by picking up a few of my new fish supplies a little bit at the time. But before I could use most of it, a local Superpets that was going out of business
finally marked everything 75% off, and I ended up with a nice Eclipse Corner 5 for Longjohn.
Long story short, it meant that most of the other odds and ends that I had gotten for him previously were no longer necessary, and they've been sitting in my closet ever since.
But today I went by Petsmart just to look, and ended up falling in love with a brand new crowntail boy! So I have almost everything I need for him, including a 2.5 gallon aquarium -- but now I've realized that while I already have a heater, filter, substrate, and can improvise a lid, there's no light for it, and none of the stores in my area carry anything suitable for an aquarium that small.
2.5 gallon owners, what do you use to cover/light your small aquariums? I'd particularly like to hear from those of you who support live plants in addition to your fish.
