Ok, here's an update. I'm still cycling the tank and was wondering if the cloudy water was normal.

The seashells are fake and I added a super tall plant. Is it blocking his surface area too much? I was hoping he'd enjoy hiding in it.

*The floating pink thing is a tea-bag I gutted and filled with fish food to cut down the mess.*

Ok so it's been over a week since the cloudiness showed up and it's only getting worse. I'm wondering if I should change the filter. Would that mess up the cycle? Speaking of which, I'm not sure if it's working. I've been testing for a month now and have yet to get a nirtrite or nitrate reading. Ammonia is at 3.0 now. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Yes, changing the filter would mess up the cycle. Just give it time. It can take up to 6 weeks.

Did you rinse your gravel before adding it? It can leave residue sometimes. If you're worried about it, do some small water changes over the week and see if it starts to clear up. It could just be bacteria bloom, which you want.

He'll love a floating plant. He might rest in it. They can be lazy boys. :)
